Welcoming AAACN’s New President, Kathleen Martinez

Kathleen Martinez, MSN, RN, CPN, began her term as AAACN’s 2021-2022 president at the AAACN Annual Virtual Conference in April 2021. As president, she will help the AAACN Board of Directors fulfill AAACN’s mission, vision, and strategic plan, advocate for members, and build collaborations with other organizations in the nursing, health care, and broader community.

Martinez has been an active member of the association since joining in 2011, serving on the Program Planning Committee and multiple Task Forces.

She has attended the past 10 Annual Conferences, where she presented several sessions, as well as posters. Kathleen has also shared her expertise with members, publishing articles in ViewPoint and Nursing Economic$.

Appointed to the AAACN Board of Directors in 2017 and re-elected the following year, she has provided guidance and leadership to a variety of Committees, Task Forces, and Special Interest Groups (SIGs) as a Board Liaison.

She is currently an Infection Preventionist, Children’s Hospital Colorado, Aurora, CO.

"Growth as a leader is an exhilarating, humbling, complex process that has no end," Martinez said. "I have found that moments where I feel I have done something meaningful and important are closely followed by an occasion where I reminded that I have so much to learn. Kindness and honoring one another are key to true leadership."
